And, more importantly, how they could work better.
I’m interested in difficult things.
Complex problems. Big ideas. People with untapped potential. Systems that could work better.
And the question that sits underneath almost everything I do:
What if we looked at this differently?
I’m Thompson Olatunji.
I’m a strategist, thinker, creator and senior professional working at the intersection of regulation, governance, leadership, business and people.
But those labels only tell part of the story.
I’ve always been curious about how things work — and how they could work better.
That curiosity has taken me through science, environmental management, business, regulation, governance and public service, while giving me the opportunity to work with complex problems, lead people, manage significant responsibilities and make decisions where judgement really matters.
Over the years, I've learned that some of the most difficult problems aren't necessarily difficult because they lack solutions.
Sometimes, they're difficult because we haven't asked the right question yet.
My academic journey probably says something about how my mind works.
I started with a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry, followed by an MSc in Water Management for Development, and later an MBA with Advanced Practice.
Science taught me to examine.
Environmental management taught me to think about systems and consequences.
Business taught me to think about value, strategy and execution.
And professional life has taught me something perhaps even more important:
People, systems and decisions are rarely as simple as they first appear.
I like that complexity. It keeps things interesting.
More than a job title.
My professional experience spans more than a decade and has involved regulation, governance, compliance, risk, environmental management, statutory decision-making, leadership and organisational performance.
I've worked in environments where decisions have to stand up to scrutiny, where details matter, where legislation matters and where getting the judgement wrong can have real consequences.
That has shaped how I think.
I value clarity over noise, substance over appearance and good judgement over easy answers.
But I'm not interested in spending the rest of my life inside one professional box.
There are too many interesting things happening outside it.
I'm fascinated by possibility.
I'm interested in technology and business. Leadership and psychology. Creativity and communication. Faith, people and culture. In the future of work and the opportunities being created by a rapidly changing world.
And particularly in the space where different ideas collide.
Because sometimes the most interesting idea isn't sitting inside a discipline. It's sitting between them.
That's where I like to look.
I'm also interested in people.
One of the things I've become increasingly fascinated by is the distance between potential and expression.
There are enormously capable people who aren't being seen. People with ideas who don't know how to articulate them. People who have something valuable to contribute but haven't found the right platform.
Organisations have the same problem. Sometimes the talent is there. The resources are there. The opportunity is there. But something isn't connecting.
I'm interested in that gap.

It's a place for ideas, experiments, writing, projects, questions, observations and things I'm building.
Some will be serious. Some will be practical. Some will probably make me rethink what I thought yesterday.
That's part of the fun.
I don't believe you have to choose between being analytical and creative, strategic and curious, serious and imaginative.
We can be more than one thing.
In fact, I think that's often where the interesting stuff begins.
